Star2 creates raw and honest releases that fuse hip-hop, electronic pop and R&B for a genre-bending sonic treat, with his latest unveiling “I Wanna Get F’d Up" featuring St. Louis rising rapper Luh Kel.
I Wanna Get F’d Up" expresses vulnerability about a once solid relationship that turned toxic, becoming emotionally disturbing and bringing sadness and suffering. Star2's confident delivery is equally relatable as it is gut wrenching. On the release, he confides, "I wanted to write a song with the backstory of the best relationship of your life that blows up out of nowhere leaving you wondering what happened- leaving you in pain and wanting to self-medicate. It was a dream come true to do a song with Luh Kel, my dude. Our song is the diary of a toxic relationship with a toxic shawty you loved heart and soul who cheated."
The track features lush soulful keys over a melodic and crisp beat and vibrant synths. The highlight though, is Star2's soulful emo-infused vocals that glide effortlessly into an enticing hook. In the accompanying visuals, the artist can be seen recollecting a fight with his girlfriend in a dim apartment. The imaginative video further uses CGI to capture him falling off a cliff into the ocean, representing the collapse of the relationship.
Star2 grew up in difficult circumstances being born into a refugee camp in Thailand after his parents escaped an attack on their village by the Myanmar government. His grandmother took him to Southern California to try for a better life, but he was overwhelmed and unsettled with a bustling city and the family drug abuse surrounding him. As a teen, he found solace in music, writing, singing and producing his own songs. Taking all that he has gone through and channeling those deep emotions in his music, Star2 crafts triumphant releases of love and loss.
