The China Blue teams with Mere Raj for "sleep"

Somewhere between alternative-pop, nu-R&B, and experimental music lies the small genre subset where The China Blue is making a name for himself.  Snowballing into a name to know in the underground scene, Providence-based producer, songwriter, and singer Seth Marques AKA The China Blue returns with an experimental alt-R&B offering entitled "sleep".

Thoroughly layered vocal textures create a pained and emotive track that simmers with a sort of post-punk angst and anxiety that few modern artists are capable of replicating.  It's a notably more melodic and R&B-influenced track for Marques who has previously released enthralling alt-pop experiments like previous single "SiLENCE" and "Nervous".  The track is assisted by fellow up-and-comer Mere Raj who lends similarly passionate vocals to the second half of the track.  "Many of my songs I think very carefully about, but this song was very much about me just having fun and doing something that felt very natural and innate," Raj says.  It's a freeing and confident cut that leaves plenty of room for distinct experimentation and a surprisingly catchy hook.

It's clear to see the rapid growth and development undergone by an artist with as much passion as The China Blue.  Always looking at what's next for innovative alt-pop music, his upcoming EP will be sure to be a sonic tapestry continuing his style of loop-de-looping vocal textures and ambient heartaches over minimalist soundscapes.
