Utah based Americana artist Alicia Stockman is best known for her introspective and deeply personal approach to songwriting that takes the listener on a vivid journey through the depths of her heart and mind. After over three years of dedicated writing, Alicia has just released the first single, “Stay Between The Lines,” from her upcoming album, These Four Walls.
“Stay Between The Lines” reflects on the personal barriers that we use to navigate our way through what’s good, evil, right and wrong. The song is about delicately coloring outside the lines — ever so slightly — as part of a healthy life, since walking a straight line has its own set of consequences too. Alicia wrote the song during a long road-trip home on the highway from New Mexico, a sentiment that breaks through the lyrics. The songwriter deems the track a “dance between right and wrong and personal limits and boundaries to keep life interesting” type of tune. Featuring warm southern vocals over a stripped-down Americana melody, hazy nostalgic guitar riffs, and vibrant storytelling, it’s the perfect song to unwind and chill out to on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The song features "Nashville's Americana Queen" Mary Bragg, who adds her personal touch, amplifying the song’s mesmerizing qualities.
Alicia Stockman is an Americana artist on the rise who is influenced by great songwriters such as Patty Griffin, Brandi Carlile and Jewel. Her ability to craft vulnerable, relatable music that pays tribute to the past while speaking to the present is one of her greatest charms. Alicia’s upcoming full-length is set for release in November of this year.
