The last time we heard from trilingual rapper Mariposa, she was advocating for freedom on her song "Callan," and now she is back with another thought-provoking tune titled "Pastorita Mariposa," where she explores the dynamics of being stuck in a cycle. She employs Timo Schot's energetic production to vent her frustrations against a society that wants her to conform. Fortunately, Mariposa is definitely not giving in and proves her point with this universal message of self-determination and the need to be free from societal constructs.
The cinematic video directed by Rogier Smalhout, follows Mariposa's journey through the rut and captures different versions of the rapper. From working in a small-town diner and bowling alley, viewers get to see Mariposa’s own frustration with being misunderstood and her journey to break out of the rat race.
Mariposa is a trilingual artist of Colombian and Italian background and is a self-taught musician. Stream Pastorita Mariposa on all platforms here.
