daste. release the dainty new single "holding on to you"

Ahead of their debut album release, Australian trio daste. share their fifth and final single "holding on to you". Featuring Brisbane artist Uhkirra, the track is a dainty single wrapped within a story of someone struggling to move on.

As break up songs go, they're usually a in-your-face-i'm-better-off-without-you scenario, but sometimes, things aren't that easy and actually it's hard to move on. daste. capture that heartache and the emotions of missing someone you were once close to. Built upon a foundation of acoustic guitar plucks and powerful, rousing bass whirs, "holding on to you" is an elegant single that captures heartache in such an elegant way.

"'holding on to you' is kinda like having a fight with someone you really love but then deciding that you're just not right for each other, but then you'll be up all night wondering what could have been; was it the right decision? But now they're moving on, going to another city to start a new life, and you try to catch them at the airport before they leave but you're too late. It's like a movie! Although, unlike most romantic comedies, there's isn't a happy ending," Tyler Harden explains.

Of the track's writing process, Harden continues: "When I wrote the first verses for this song I was inspired by Bon Iver's "Re: Stacks" and a song called "Cherry" by Harry Styles. I specifically remember coming up with the bridge ("so open up") while I was at work and sung it for the rest of my shift, itching to get back home and try some chords to go with it. We knew we had to get Uhkirra to collaborate on this track and knowing how talented she is at string arrangements we were so excited to see what she could do."

"holding on to you" is a delicate, dainty single about the emotional turmoil of breaking up. But without said breakups we wouldn't have some great tunes, so to whoever hurt daste., thank you from us. This is a beautiful vision of pain.
