"Trap house jazz" musician, Masego kicks off Wednesday with his latest release "Silver Tongue Devil". Enlisting "Jamaican Princess of Dancehall", Shenseea, the waist-winding cut finds the artists at the crossroads of an old flame with a clever way with words.
The island-inspired track meets Masego's crushed velvet vocals with rhythmic drums and strings. His smooth delivery resonates with the repetitive self-titled chorus, confidently talking his way through a troubled relationship. Shenseea plays the opposition, acknowledging her lover's slick-talking ways. Performing like two former flames, they're vocals are cohesive and effortless, ultimately bringing the song to life. In the jazz musician's notable style, he caps off the track with a pulsing saxophone solo – job well done.
The pandemic has gotten Masego into quite a hot streak. Just releasing his single "Passport" back in September, he hasn't taken his foot off the gas. The former cut was given a nod by Vice Music and NPR Music. The man behind the sax released his debut album Lady Lady back in September 2018, so fans can only hope that he's gearing up for some new tunes.
