Chinese multi-hyphenate artist LAY—also known as Lay Zhang—has dropped an explosive remix of his hit single “Boom.” Taken from his record-breaking album LIT, which dropped in June 2020, the remix also features internationally famed Moroccan-Dutch DJ and producer Fadi El Ghoul, better known as R3HAB.

Originally written as a summery Mandopop anthem, its catchy hip-hop elements and a happy, tropical soundscape receives a fiery new touch under DJ R3HAB’s veteran artistry. Boasting progressive house stylings, the track is another step in LAY’s journey to breaking musical and cultural boundaries. Combining LAY’s innovative cross-genre influences with R3HAB’s signature high energy vibes and melodic arrangements, the smooth sonics of “Boom,” is made even better with the addition of electro-house beats that show off tinges of tropical and hip-hop sounds as well.

LAY debuted in music as part of K-pop group EXO in 2012, and has gone from strength to strength. Since, he's become the highest-ranked Mandopop star on Billboard 200 chart, but also finding success in the world of TV, film and fashion. Achieving mainstream international success earlier this year for his cross-cultural hit "Love You More," featuring Steve Aoki and will.i.am, LAY solo career has established him as a household name not just in Asia but across the globe.

On the track, R3HAB and LAY have managed to skillfully blend their own unique sounds while also pushing each other's artistic boundaries offering listeners an EDM-influenced slice of M-pop heaven. Speaking of his experience collaborating with R3HAB, LAY said, "I really like the high energy that R3HAB brings to the table so I was excited to hear his electronic/progressive house influence on this track. I think that Boom was the perfect choice from my album 'LIT' to mix with a dance sound.”

R3HAB, who is working on his goal of diversifying his own sound, added: "As soon as I heard the song, I knew instantly what to do. I have worked with the reggaeton and Latin sounds just recently, when collaborating with TINI and Reik, so that made working on 'BOOM' remix quite easy."

One proven powerhouse of talent has met another as Lay- who has earned his success through the unstoppable force of his will and innate talent- has come together R3HAB -who supports up-and-coming talent through his label CYB3RPVNK- to deliver a track which has further strengthened the bridge between different cultures and music.
