Fluttertone Records newest signee Craig Cooney has had an eventful 2020. With a series of singles already under his belt, he is back with a brand new track "Better Than This".
This soulful cut continues an incredible run the Dublin rapper has been on as of late. Singles such as "Cream", "Young Forever" and "Home" all have established him as a prominent up and comer in the bubbling Irish scene. This momentum led to him signing with the newly refurbished Fluttertone Records and he looks to continue this run on the new single.
"Better Than This" see's Craig continue in the soulful pocket he has been in as of late. The acoustic piano driven record is complimented with beautiful organs and pads that give different layers and emotions for the listener to delve into. The simple drum patterns compliment the acoustic elements of this song very well. As well as this, the triumphant horns give a celebratory feeling to the record.
One of the things that makes Craig so interesting to listen to is his voice. The deep, rough tone produced in his vocals keep the listener hooked and locked in to the lyrical content on offer. The songwriting on this one is exceptional. Both verses see lyrical moments worthy of tuning in. Craig also tries his hand at signing on the chorus and while the penmanship on this part of the song is exceptional, the mix didn't truly do his vocal ability justice.
Despite the room for improvement on this record, Craig is continuing to evolve at a rapid rate. The growth on offer here is incredible from releases to release.
