BabyJake teases his new project with the release of his summer-soaked single, "MadHappySad"

Summer is just starting to heat up, and so is Florida's up-and-coming artist, BabyJake. Starting off the year with a scorching collaboration with Dillon Francis, the Ft. Myers songwriter switches it up with his latest single, "MadHappySad," fusing his two loves for folk and hip-hop into one unforgettable track.

"MadHappySad" is as much of an amalgamation of sounds as it is of blurring emotions. An intoxicating guitar riff guides his anecdotal lyrics alongside a soothing percussive beat, giving the track the feeling of an intimate story-telling session rather than a solemn confession. Though they are subtle, all the little sound effects—a chirping bass, glittering backing synths, and even auto-tuned vocals—add the necessary heart and soul to this otherwise simple track. While he doesn't mess around with overtly layered melodies or an oversaturated production, he covers up the naked spaces with pop-heavy hooks that can fill up a room with relative ease.

As he gears up for the release for his debut EP later this summer, he hopes that his new single will make one thing clear when it comes to his music: "My goal is to reach out to people and connect to their hearts the way my lyrics connect to mine." In other words, no matter your own personal mix of emotions, BabyJake's easy flows will always be there to get you through the day.
