Anyone who says they hate Eurovision, is LYING. It's often mediocre and always crazy, but sometimes it produces such a gem that you can't remember why you've never appreciated it as much before. Despite this years competition being called off, Icelandic contestant Daði Freyr has become something of a phenomenon. Now known as the people's champion, Freyr has produced a huge online following. Today, he shares his latest track "Where We Wanna Be", and it may just be the only track you need to hear today.
Dripping in funky electronics and groovy basslines, "Where We Wanna Be" is an exhilarating ride from start to finish. Modernising disco and pairing it with yet another delightful dance routine, the single is quite simply a lockdown anthem that's having more impact than any government advice. Of the single, Freyr explains: “Where We Wanna Be is about having people in your life that you love when faced with difficult times. Trying to make the best out of it and staying positive. I wrote this song in Berlin while there was a 2 person maximum, so me, my wife and our daughter didn't get a chance to meet anybody else. Then it's really important that you love the people you have around you.”
If you're not obsessed with Freyr yet, then you're about to be. If you still don't know what I'm on about, check out this performance and thank me later. This is an explosion of sonic creativity that we simply adore.
