Back in December EARMILK covered the release of singer-songwriter DOOLIE's then latest release "Slow Crawl". Since then the rising Gold Coast pop artist has gone into self-isolation and has been working on the release of her forthcoming debut mixtape – due out for release May 8 – ever since.
Off that debut mixtape, i hope u like my mixtape, is DOOLIE's brand new empowering electro-pop anthem "Dark Waters", released today via the folks over at Australian record label etcetc.
Within the release of this new single, DOOLIE wanted to make an analogy, kind of like a phoenix rising from the ashes. A song about not caring about someone else's thoughts and speaking her truth; finally letting her feelings and emotions be her priority and have their light.
DOOLIE has produced a song that showcases her sharp and playful lyrics, while also delivering a fresh blend of pop/R&B over the landscape of what is a big, and powerful anthem.
But in December I stated that DOOLIE was an artist that still has a lot to show – and I think she has come a long way since then, with "Dark Waters" being a great step in the right direction for one of Australia's best underrated voices.
