In a time of difficulty for much of the music industry, Gatsby Global is hoping to help. The new company and brand, which is focused on connecting communities through music, just put together a new project titled Social Gathering with 14 songs and 17 different artists. All of the proceeds will go directly to MusiCares, which provides preventative, recovery, and emergency assistance to safeguard the well-being of music people in need.
Fittingly released on Earth Day, Social Gathering is a united effort from a diverse group of artists; singer Matthew Chaim sings a moving ballad backed by only a piano on the final track, while rapper Deante Hitchcock gives a hard series of bars on "Aw Shit." Other highlights include "Find A Way," which sees Peter CottonTale remix Grace Weber's recent single into a powerful, tone-setting first track, and Kelechi's "One More Day," which is a hopeful rap track with an uplifting chorus with a message of determination. Sonically, Social Gathering has songs with rock guitars and also contains strict R&B songs; there's something for everyone. Both its mission and sonics are successfully uniting, making this project one that's hard not to love. Check it out up above.
