Rising Sacramento R&B/hip-hop artist MarMar Oso has shared his latest single "Dream Girl,” which is accompanied by its music video. The track arrives with the announcement of his forthcoming sophomore album, Love Don't Cost A Thing, out later this year.
"Dream Girl" has MarMar Oso stepping into a fusion of genres from ambient R&B and bedroom-pop to lighthearted hip-hop inflections. His approach here pays homage to 2000s R&B, but with crisp modernity. He’s quite relaxed here with the sonic choices as previously efforts displayed more of his introspective sensibilities. On “Dream Girl,” Oso becomes lost in reveries as he pines for the person he desires. It’s a sweet, innocent sort of throwback jam driven by a surplus of dreamy cadences and head-bobbing melodies.
"I originally wrote ‘Dream Girl’ with my uncle as a kid,” said Oso in an email. “I was crushing on a girl that made me reminisce on the song so I decided to bring it back." The Mikey Rare directed visuals portrays Marmar Oso playing a nerdy high school obtaining the girl of his dreams in a humorous yet good-natured way.
Previously, MarMar Oso released the singles “Ride or Die (ft. Yelly)” and “Choosin.” These tracks came on the heels of his 2019 debut LP Oso Different.
