Mt. Joy's single "Rearrange Us" is a smooth foot-tapping groove

LA-based, Philadelphia-bred band Mt. Joy’s newest single “Rearrange Us” has been stuck in my head all week. Namely, the quick electric guitar riff that opens the track and continues throughout the smooth electric keyboard-driven rhythm that has me tapping my foot until the end. A dazzling blend of indie-rock, classic blues guitar, and a little old school Soul makes this latest track a true gem to add to any playlist.

When I saw Mt. Joy on stage in Toronto last week, the folk-rock group had the audience in its grasp; their hands thrown up in glee during the faster tracks and their bodies swaying during the slower. The relatively new name packed the floor. Since releasing their debut self-titled album in 2018, Mt. Joy have captured listeners globally with an inescapably catchy blend of folk and rock, with melodies that, as I mentioned, find their way into your head. “Rearrange Us” is no exception. With a calm sound and an emphasis on instrumentals, I’m not surprised that they are filling music halls with enthusiastic listeners.

Based in Toronto but my mind is always somewhere else. I like coffee, a good banjo solo, and binge-watching British TV shows.
