Robin Alice passionately reflect on these unsettling times in new single "Greed" [Video Premiere]

Many artists are finding themselves questioning the new political and cultural landscapes they have found themselves in after the 2016 election, but not many have been able to articulate themselves as delicately and subtlety as the LA meets Austin duo Robin Alice have in their new song and video for “Greed”.

The track features a catchy and jangly guitar riff carried along by a captivatingly haunting vocal performance that's weaved casually, yet passionately together by the duo. Lyrically, the song is an earnest and deeply vulnerable take on the current political climate in America.“It’s a song reflecting upon disdain for unchecked capitalism, and the sadness at the lack of fiscal equality and lack of social safety nets,” says Kelly Jakle, vocalist.

Visually, the video creates a dynamic scene that features the duo floating upon a couch uninterested, circling a warehouse filled with angry Americans stuck in traffic, holding Starbucks cups and getting angry at each other. A perfect metaphor for what the song stands for.

"We wanted to have a feeling that we're detached from reality, perhaps we're watching the news on a TV in a waiting room somewhere, or we're two strangers on a bus who aren't interacting because they're stuck reading the news on their phones.  I liked shooting in a lumber warehouse because it feels both organic and industrial," shares Hortillosa, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.

It’s no question that we are living in troubled times and Robin Alice have taken us deeper into the fold on this new track and video. Robin Alice is made of Kelley Jakle (from the Pitch Perfect film franchise) and Jeff Hortillosa from punk grass band Whiskey Shivers. They first met on the set of Pitch Perfect 3 before going on to create music together and if this track is any indication of what they’re capable of, this will definitely not be the last you hear of them.
