I live in Ottawa (the capital of Canada!) so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to shed some light on one of our hometown heroes. Ottawa’s favourite late-night closer and co-founder of our beloved Sunday Sessons is Zoltan Kontes aka Return of the Jaded. He’s come together with Florida's Dead Space for the first time to deliver Nobody Else EP released via Lee Foss’ imprint, Repopulate Mars.
“Nobody Else” sets the tone with a rumbling bassline that shakes your rear-view mirror, soulful vocals that give it that buoyant house music flare, and enormous build ups with cascading horns and oscillating effects throughout. “Falling” boasts a bumping groove and stabbing spacey synths, a nod to Repopulate Mars’ quirky, out-of-this-world style. The two are high-energy tech house cuts that come together to form the perfect club-ready package for Ibiza, Florida and Ottawa alike.
While this is Return of the Jaded’s first time appearing on Repopulate Mars, this is Dead Space’s second release on the label following Pride EP with G. Felix in September 2018. With appearances on mau5trap, Desert Heart and Country Club Disco, Dead Space brings his unique, almost entirely analog style that blends tech house and techno with a touch of funky fun to the collaboration. Having been featured on Green Velvet’s Relief Records, Suara, and Kittball, Return of the Jaded is no stranger to topping the tech house charts and is sure to do it again with Nobody Else EP.
