bitbird has found itself a star in Taska Black.
In little time, the Belgian beatsmith has risen to the top of the future bass ranks thanks to his raw, emotive sonic flair. Perhaps best known for his vocal-driven tunes, like "Forever," which Martin Garrix said was his favorite song of 2018, Taska Black opts for an instrumental track this time around. What it lacks in lyricism, though, it makes up for in production. "No Paradise" follows his successful formula of blending haunting chords, fluttering arpeggios, and masterfully processed drums to create intoxicating, forward-thinking future bass anthems. Juxtaposing hypnotic sound design with booming mainstage appeal, the single is signature bitbird.
By the way, the productions coming out of the bitbird camp are second to none. In recent years, San Holo's flagship record label has cemented itself as a legitimate tastemaker in not only dance music, but also ambient and lo-fi. You could scroll to any point in the imprint's discography, and you'll find a song-cycle of poignant, technically pristine electronic ballads.
