New York-based artist Miss Madeline is all about pushing boundaries with her sensual brand of provocative pop. Reclaiming the feminine body image with power and confidence her first single, "Goddess" is the perfect thesis statement. Citing 2000's era pop greats like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera Miss Madeline isn't afraid to explore her sexuality. Now she's back with a brand new 420-themed track aptly titled, "Mary Jane."

Miss Madeline is a master of crafting cheeky lyrics to promote empowerment and unadulterated boldness. On "Mary Jane" she shows off a vulnerable side as well that proves there are many dimensions to her character. With a downtempo beat and a throwback sound reminiscent of '90s R&B classics, this track feels like a heady cloud of smoke in slow motion.

We caught up with Miss Madeline to get her story on the track's conception,

“Unfortunately, I was dating this guy who basically did me dirty. At the time, I would compare myself to her, asking what she had that I didn’t. But, instead of writing a sappy song for two people who don’t deserve my time, I decided to write about my one true love, Mary Jane. Truthfully, at the end of that relationship, I was left with Mary Jane, who I discovered could do so much more for me than he ever could. I wrote the song a while ago when I was in a different place emotionally. As bad as the situation was, I think it played a key role in helping me find my voice."

If we can learn anything from Miss Madeline it's that you have to make the best of a bad situation and sometimes Mary Jane can help.
