Even though it’s only been a few weeks since festival season really got going in Europe, revellers in attendance at Junction 2 Festival in London would probably be inclined to tell you it’s already been the best festival of 2018. From Len Faki and Dense & Pika fronting the Warehouse, William Djoko warming up The Woods and Enrico Sangiuliano playing a standout set – the leafy south London setting was every Techno lovers dream. The main event, though, was the highly anticipated performance from two of the dancefloor kings, Adam Beyer B2B with Carl Cox, with their closing track from Wehbba becoming a highlight of the festival in itself.
Although no stranger to Drumcode, it's almost hard to believe that Wehbba only released his first EP on the label earlier this year. The four-track EP 'Eclipse' followed on in a thunderous manner from "Fake" – a track the Brazillian DJ and producer contributed to one of the label's compilations last year. Wehbba slots in perfectly on the label, supplying the finely tuned and driving style of techno that Adam Beyer has made the Drumcode signature.
"Catarse" is the penultimate track on the release, drawing inspiration from 90's techno and providing a euphoric, melodic riff throughout – making the title track 6 of the most memorable minutes on the EP. The opener, "She Lost Control" is another stand out from the record – an eerie combination of kick drum and moog bass produced solely to create a heavy, sonic atmosphere.
