Fritz Carlton and Lubelski are two DJs that have been not-secretely making their way up in the West Coast underground lately. From B2B sets at the beloved West-Coast Desert Hearts Festival to pop up lakeside boat DJ sets at major festivals like Oregon Eclipse. Thier nomadic sound travels between different styles of techno, tech house, house and a dab of minimal acid vibes. They expertly grab the best of all these worlds to create a unique sound and vibe that continue to make their sets memorable. Today, EARMILK is excited to premiere the latest single off thier upcoming Chrome EP – a 4 track package including 3 original collaborative works from Fritz Carlton and Lubelski as well as a remix from BOT due for release on 11/20. Check it out below:
Fritz refers to his sound as ‘Weirdo-House’ and with his touch of acid-laced basslines, you can really go on a darker psychedelic journey. And Lubelski brings with him a never-ending abyss of psychedelic rhythm and house groove that makes this collab so perfect. It's not quite dark techno but it's not completely acid tech house either. It's got that old-school electronic familiarity to it but hits you with a modern minimal drop that I really dig. At some point track almost slows it down to a complete standstill but somehow keeps you grooving along while never losing your attention.
"We originally wrote this song for the Desert Hearts Festival in 2016 and wrote this track as our secret weapon. If you look back at his 2016 set you could hear it in there. For this one we wanted to go a little darker but accessible. We wanted to pay homage to older sounds of house music but keep it really minimal and simple and using sounds people are familiar with but giving it our own twist." Lubelski
The popularity of their collab work really caught some momentum after the release of "Doses", which was picked up by the, at the time, a newly created Desert Hearts Record Label. That track was a banger and I'm stoked to hear the rest of this new EP as well. Make sure to keep an eye out for these two Los Angeles-bases artists who are clearly making some waves.
