LA electronic musician D33J has released another tune ahead of his debut album, Death Valley Oasis, out September 8th on Anticon. The single, "Wisp", features vocals from labelmate Will Wiesenfeld, AKA Baths, over a colorful, bouncy beat. "Wisp" is anything but, as it's one of D33J's busiest beats, with the restless, uptempo drums and warped harp leads that evoke Aphex Twin. In a press release, D33J explains the genesis of the track:
""Wisp" started as a dusty lil Yamaha Dx7 sketch that I made a couple years back, but found a new life in it when I reached out to Will to collaborate on the song. We've known each other for a long time, went to high school and have toured together in the past, so it felt natural to collaborate on this."
D33J is going on tour in September with Shlohmo and Corbin (fka Spooky Black), who also feature on the album. Tour dates and ticket links are here.
