About a year after delivering their first full length album Yoncalla, Cascine dreamers Yumi Zouma are back with the first taste off their forthcoming sophomore release. Picking up right where they left off, “December” brings more of the band's signature sun-filled, breezy spirit delicately topped with Christie Simpson's tender feminine vocals. The new album sees the band returning to New Zealand, oddly enough making this the first major work completely written and recorded in their home country. “We were on home turf and creating from a place that felt fundamentally natural,” says bandmember Josh Burgess, ”…we finally felt like a band from New Zealand.”

Yumi Zouma has always had this cutesy, coy aspect of their music that makes it extra endearing, but there's definitely something about “December” that projects a little more confidence. Maybe it's the hometown comfort, or maybe it's that sophomore maturity. Whatever it is, Yumi Zouma looks like they're set to release a real treat this fall. Willowbank will be released via Cascine on October 6th, just before the band kicks off a set of North American shows. Pre-orders for Willowbank can be found here (there's a limited edition blue vinyl) and check below to see when Yumi Zouma will be playing near you.
