After accumulating over 5 million Spotify streams, Los Angeles-based artist Tim Atlas' funky, laid-back tune "Compromised" receives a retro music video. Premiering today on EARMILK, the visual epitomizes a relaxed summer day, complimenting the indie alternative tune with its vintage camera reel footage and vibrant colors.
The artist explores a hybrid sound reminiscent of Toro Y Moi and Real Estate on the song, which was released last November. It features Atlas playing a languid guitar riff as well as his swooning vocals, which have previously been praised by the likes of Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams. Atlas comments on his inspiration for the lyrics of "Compromised," saying,
“This song is about temptation and giving into vices. The video demonstrates a couple of my personal vices and I think every viewer can find something they can relate to as well.”
Temptations like microwave hamburgers and a TV set contrast with the outdoor scenes in which Atlas plucks his guitar. Animation courtesy of Andrew Agutos is sprinkled throughout the video, giving the nostalgic clips a bright pop of neon. The blasé video was shot and directed by Atlas, whose creative talents extend beyond music and into both the photography and videography realms.
Fresh off a European tour and a sold-out LA show at The Echo, Atlas is working on his sophomore EP to be released in late 2018. In the meantime, enjoy his new video for "Compromised" above.
