Given what has happened over the past few days, a lot of people, the world over, are anxious. Killer Mike and El-P, better known as Run the Jewels, have let loose a new track titled, “2100” that is aimed at helping the world cope with the fear of the unknown.

With the release of this new track, they had this to say:

for our friends. for our family. for everyone who is hurting or scared right now. here is a song we wrote months ago. we werent planning on releasing it yet but… well it feels right, now. its about fear and its about love and its about wanting more for all of us. its called 2100. we hope it finds you well.

love,

jaime and mike

The song itself has an almost apocalyptic vibe to it, with common collaborator Boots featured on the hook singing “Take my swollen heart/ Bring me home from the dark”. The track seems to fit well into the general feeling after the news of 2016 presidential election. Both Mike and El-P are no strangers to politics, with Killer Mike campaigning heavily for Bernie Sanders in the earlier part of the year, and have been voicing their concerns and fears as things have progressed.

Still no word on a release date for Run the Jewels 3 the follow up to their critically acclaimed Run the Jewels 2, so looks like we will have to be content for the time being with their latest release.
