If anyone knows me, they'll know how much of a bass head I am. There's something special to be found in all the loudness and energy of bass music. It's an indescribable sound that fills the body and makes listeners move in an intuitive and almost primal nature. While to some, this more hard-hitting style of music is an acquired taste, people often underestimate the complexities and layers found in its sound design.

Hailing from Portugal, electronic producer Holly has been receiving huge attention for his innovative skills and electrifying sounds. The artist known as Miguel Oliveira, has an idiosyncratic approach in composition, pairing soft obscured sounds into harder trap or dubstep grooves. Juxtaposition and contrast is key in Holly's work, citing a well-crafted balance that unexpectedly appeals to the ear as captivating and unique. With his polished sound and continuing success as an upcoming artist, it's no wonder big names including OWSLA and Buygore are picking up on this hype.

EARMILK is extremely excited to present to you Holly's official debut EP with Buygore titled Forward. The producer has compiled an impressive seven fold track album full of lush and hectic sounds alike. Included in the EP are some names also climbing to the spotlight of the electronic scene such as lux.impala, Eljay and more. The extensive EP is a overall kinetic roller coaster, exploring futuristic synths over primitive beats, paving Holly's name as one to stand out from a slew of producers in the game. "Runner" featuring AYA highlights a more cinematic aesthetic with a dramatic build up. Eventually the track drops into a screeching blend of feisty samples and deep wubs to create a bellowing tension in listeners. Holly's collaboration "To Meet You" with lux.impala is a heavy trap banger that has a slight kaleidoscopic glow in it's subtle cutesy touches. "Bubbling" featuring Styn sports a slight hip-hop influence but goes into a intergalactic fusion of lazer-induced synths over tricky 808s.

Through his cutting edge formulas, Holly humbly emerges as an artist depicting a nutty hybrid sound to take note of. Forward automatically takes the cake as the artist's magnum opus. Painting waves of neon melodies and serrated synthesizers, Holly's music marries smooth and aggressive and crafts an ironic style that pushes all the boundaries of bass music.

an ideal day consists of wandering a korean supermarket for cutely packaged snacks, stumbling upon instagram worthy neon signage, concluded with me drowning in several down blankets & obsessively sifting soundcloud to find a track that suitably fits my mood.
