2016 has been a pretty great year for k?d. His superstar remix of Steve James's melancholy "Renaissance" released in January is nearing the 2 million play mark on SoundCloud, and his Daft Punk remix of "Doin It Right" has also passed a million plays. Something about k?d's big-sounding synths and punchy beats is insanely addictive, and for a while now, it seems as if k?d has settled into a good niche of providing tracks that have this signature sound.
With new track "Show Me" released earlier this week, k?d shows listeners that his sound can't be put in a box just yet, no matter how nicely decorated and glittery it is. Opening with some chill sounding synths, with an underlying sound of iPhone keyboard clicks and Rahn Harper's smooth R&B vocals overhead, "Show Me" has these jazzy electronic sounds that blend together to bring about a truly satisfying track that hits in all the right spots. The best part of "Show Me", however, definitely has to be the nice marimba-like melodies tinkling around throughout; they're like these light breezy tunes that float boldly about the whompy future synth sound that quietly infiltrates the track, nicely crisp and clear.
