What makes an action film so captivating is that it gives average folk a peak into an adrenaline coated lifestyle likely never to be experienced. The car chases, drug busts and criminal aficionados depict a badassery only to be found in Hollywood films. This is exactly what sort of journey JOYRYDE takes me through. When I first heard JOYRYDE's "Fuel Tank", it was a style completely foreign to me, riddled in truly eclectic sounds and an uncontainable energy bursting out the seams. "Fuel Tank" became a staple in my morning playlist on the way to work (mind you I drive a PT Cruiser so I felt significantly cooler). The sound became so embedded into my mind I was constantly digging around Soundcloud to find something along the same lines.
Of course, JOYRYDE's sound is not easily replicated and the only way to have satisfied this "Maniac House" craving was a new release from the producer. Also known as Jonny and 1/2 of UK based Lets Be Friends, JOYRYDE has been releasing game-changing music in recent times. The producer's signature sound continues to develop and embraces the glitz and glamour of cinema through bass house grit weaved into hip hop tonalities and an overall undefinable style. His latest track "The Box" is essentially an action film trailer portrayed through the medium of electronic music.

The brilliance in illustrating cinematic narratives through a collage of sound is so effective as JOYRYDE carefully handpicks each sound to add a certain effect on the listener. All the minute details—from the telephone ring, gun shots, waning vocals in the background overlaid on a trappy build up—create a full climax of tension. This tension is reminsicent of those butt-clenching scenes present in Hollywood thrillers when you find yourself siding with the villain. JOYRYDE's sonic tessellations drives him to success as a musical renegade, creating a multidimensional sound that serves as both music to accompany a heist or a track to rip up on the dance floor.
