San Francisco's Slaptop has had an impressive breakout year. He debuted with "Sunrise" in 2015 leading into four other original releases, impressive all landing viral notoriety. "Sunrise" even landed a spot on the soundtrack for FIFA 2015. Since then, Slaptop has been working on official remixes for artists like Big Grams and Bob Moses, but this week, he'll return with another original – his real bread and butter.
"It Isn't Mine" is a manifestation of Slaptop's musical evolution. In previous tracks, upbeat lightheartedness and a focus on melody have been key players, but throughout "It Isn't Mine" has also highlighted the deep and the underground house influences on his music. Piano chords and a noticeable groovy bassline are highlighted by compositional accents that are a bit surprising to the ear, and his technique in successfully marrying these elements together makes this single broad in its appeal.
"It Isn't Mine" is out tomorrow via 300 Entertainment.
