Toronto is a hotbed for music – specifically hip-hop with acts such as Drake, Tory Lanez, Jazz Cartier, Jahkoy, and others leading the way. Another Canadian hip-hop MC/producer from the province of Ontario, Hamilton specifically, is staking his claim as a lyrical force, and he goes by Emay.

Having made waves with his 2014 EP, Sinner, Song-Writer and more recent releases such as "Blaow 'that hurts'"; Emay has returned with the first single – "Israfil 'angels trumpet'" – from his forthcoming album Ilah. "Israfil" is an archangel that blows his horn to announce the day of resurrection in traditional Islam.
On the self-produced cut, Emay shares of personal struggles growing up and a yearning to make it. The varying accents of horns throughout the song help to connect the track to its title. A befitting clip from author and social activist Bell Hooks helps to drive the song home.
