When asked what the scariest movie made is, without hesitation, Darren Aronofsky's psychodrama Requiem For A Dream comes to mind. The Jared Leto starring film is about the vices and addictions that bind us, and how anything, like a desire to be famous, can be a crippling addiction. In London trio Social Skills' latest release "Let Go Of Letting Go," they speak on this addiction while electric synths underscore an introspective piece about the inability to change what is holding us back. Processed vocals in the chorus compliment the honest revelation they bring. The overall indie synth-pop feel takes some of the weight of the words severity, giving it a glossy finish like the contradictory hit "Semi-charmed Life."
