I'm calling it early. Ulrika Spacek's The Album Paranoia easily makes it into my top 5 albums of 2016, no questions asked.
Ulrika Spacek, originally formed in Berlin in one night's time by old friends Rhys Edwards and Rhys Williams, make alt-rock/psych grunge that appeals to anyone who has ears.
The Album Paranoia, out Feb 5/16 via Lefse Records (US) / Tough Love Records (EU), is a 10-track instance of Ulrika Spacek's undeniable ability to be quite widely (and yet untraditionally) accessible. The act sports a garage-infused experimental vibe that is both heavy and hypnotic. Neatly packed together with an ever present dark-rock ideology that permeates all tracks, The Album Paranoia gains masterful traction through distortive fuzz and bellowing guitar.
