The OWSLA Worldwide Compilation is just a couple days away from its release on January 29th and the label has previewed impressive tracks from San Holo & Yellow Claw, Barely Alive and today, relatively unknown producer trio WAVEDASH. With a name referencing a move from all time popular Super Smash Bros video game, the group automatically wins cool points.
Exemplifying a deep dubstep style, WAVEDASH makes a suitable fit for a release on OWSLA, founded by dubstep mogul himself, Skrillex. The young producers based out of Austin, Texas, cite OWSLA and their roster as heavy inspiration since their early years. The trio have produced creative remixes of Mija and Ghastly's "Crank it" as well as festival favourite, Valentino Khan's "Deep Down Low".
"Bang" begins with mysterious static, foreshadowing the intensity of the track. The energy eventually is built up, accompanied with siren sounds, as if to warn the listener of the chaos about to ensue. The descending drop is explosive with serrated synths and hard-hitting bass, sure to please those wanting to release bottled energy. Without any prior knowledge, it would have seemed that WAVEDASH has been working on their musical craft with several years under their belt. "Bang" is an electifying worldwide introduction to the talent of WAVEDASH. Already having several headbangers and an OWSLA release on the way, it's without a doubt these producers from Austin are bound to blow up. Check out the track below and preorder the album here.
