After three years of hand-selecting the best of future electronic beats out of France and America on their Filet Mignon series Point Point has proudly put out their first EP, Contrastive Focus Reduplication. Together, Aazar, Devoted to God, L'homme aux 4 lettres, and Nömak have succesfully showcased tremendous production diversity in curation as well as publication.
The four Parisian producers are brought together to better encompass the depth of what 'future' entails, and it's far from the traditional utilization of pressured bed springs and endlessly beating kick drums against 8-bit cascades. "You Will Never Know" is closely related to rapid footwork and resembles the more melodic track "doubleOreo", while the other tracks on Contrastive Focus Reduplication have an experimental touch previously unexplored by their tastes.
"Nexterday" and "I Woke Up Sad" are melancholic and contemplative on the passing of time and emotion and San Holo integrates his signature high-speed warping twists on "On Your Face". The finale of the EP ends with "Life In Grey", an incredibly powerful trip in and out of nostalgic memory, hypnotic strings, and chopped, synthesized vocals. OWSLA and Record Record present to you a unique progression towards a concept of future music that is largely neglected in a world focused on a drop's instant gratification.
