I first found cheerful starlet Alex Winston on her behind the scenes video for "Careless" and was infatuated with her infectious, bubbly energy. This is just one of the qualities that a woman in music needs to rise to the top and it's just a bonus that she was originally schooled in opera, the most technically precise training for a professional vocalist. On that note… I'm glad that she went indie pop rock and was delighted to receive her new EP The 'Day I Died' last weekend.
Title track "The Day I Died," is deceiving in nature, because it again exudes those poppy, uptempo vibes that seem to have nothing to do with death. Instead she sings about how she "Was asleep until the day she died," and it is on point with who she is within the industry.

On second cut "Down Low," you can hear her classical knowledge coupled with that rock-based rasp that probably set her apart to begin with. This one is probably the most melancholy on the EP, where she laments that "You just don't care about me anymore," and wishes that "You'd just fade away." But haven't we all had someone that we just couldn't let go?

While the subject matter is still that horrible break-up, "Dead End" picks us right back up so that we can keep going. The classic rock beat and synthy instrumentation are enough to help anyone just be over it.
