With Coachella rolling around again these two weeks, I'd honestly been feeling burnt out about living in Los Angeles right now. At some point in my life, the music festival became less about music and more about hanging out at the right parties, dressing the right way, and trying to get backstage. Totally what the festival wasn't supposed to be about. Considering my years at UCLA, the people attending with me felt less like the weird kids at the radio station or the lazy students smoking weed at the COOP, and more like the really obnoxious bros I hated in high school butting into all the cool stuff I wish I could hide from them.
Anyways, the point is that working in music, listening to music, and then hearing about music… I'd become more than a little fatigued. Luckily however, today has been a little slice of heaven in the world of music and Hiko Momoji is bringing some serious vibes. Influenced by the likes of Childish Gambino and Cashmere Cat, the young producer is absolutely killing it, hitting the heart directly and meshing a brilliant balance between hip hop and electronic.
If Ryan Hemsworth isn't just jumping on these tracks, then everything I know about this type of music is a lie. This EP is out on soundcloud, but for those that love games, check this magnificence out here.
