Towards the end of 2014, go-to-producer of the year Mike Will Made It dropped his Ransom mixtape, much to the delight of rap fans across the globe. Sitting at twenty tracks deep, Ransom featured some of the hottest artists of the moment, such as ILOVEMAKONNEN, all jumping on beats produced by the Georgia native.
One of the standout tracks, for me personally, was "Drinks On Us", which featured Swae Lee (one half of the formidable Rae Sremmurd) and the king of moving dope, Future. Whilst this track stood out as it was, it happens to have been given some extra shine in the form of a new verse from the hottest voice in the game right now; The Weeknd. The Toronto native unexpectedly dropped his remix of "Drinks On Us" this weekend, and he adds a typically faded slant on his life. There are so many quotables in his verse we would need at least 3 paragraphs just to talk about them. But with lines that shout out Toronto's 'Lost and Found' Mondays night, his hair resembling that of a Dragonball Z character, as well as his wrist hurting from signing so many cheques, it's clear to see that Abel's taking the chance to stunt on all of us about his lavish lifestyle, in typical Weeknd style.
You can stream the remix of "Drinks On Us" as well as a thirty second preview of "Where You Belong", produced by the incredible Mike Dean, which is taken from the forthcoming 50 Shades Of Grey movie soundtrack. What do you think of this new verse from Abel? Is he one of the most consistent artists around? Let us know your view!`
