UK-based house producer Michael Greene, a.k.a. Fort Romeau, has been in the public eye for a couple years now, releasing music here and there on a few different labels, the most prominent of them being Ghostly International. Greene released one album, Kingdoms, through 100% Silk back in 2012, but his reputation has risen substantially since then. This means that his just-announced LP for Ghostly, Insides, has the feel of a true debut without actually being one.
Clearly, Fort Romeau is a patient producer, unwilling to release something before it's perfect. This patience is also demonstrated in the album's title track, a simple slow-burner with plenty of rewarding moments for the attentive listener. Over the six-minute runtime, Greene fills the rhythmic shuffle with a smattering of synth spasms and swells unlike much I've heard in the world of house music. All that waiting seems to have paid off, Fort Romeau's Insides will make a mark when it drops on March 31.
