David Banner has come a long way since his "Like A Pimp" days. The Mississippi emcee seems to be focusing more on film and activism recently, but music is still in his veins as he is currently working on his latest project The God Box.
A couple days back, Banner again used his mic to voice his opinion on a number of social matters, including the recent rash of citizens killed by law enforcement and overall black plight in the new track "Burning Thumbs." Is a change gon' come?
The instrumental itself is very "deep south", with what could be envisioned as a something like a barbershop quartet in the sample – it's very airy and light. That matched with [again] soft and punchy drums make the song increasingly more interesting overall.
