Detach from reality in Bipolar Sunshine's new track "Daydreamer"

Avant-garde alt-pop artist Bipolar Sunshine (born Adio Marchant in Manchester) gave us a reason to look forward to 2015 when he uploaded his newest track “Daydreamer” yesterday to YouTube (release date January 26). And I must say, I haven’t spent this much time just listening to YouTube in awhile, as I usually utilize the streaming service for its visual contributions. But you go where the good music is, and today it’s here.

We can tack this track on to the roster of epic new-age, soulful offerings we’ve heard from this musician (including recent Earmilk favorite, “Deckchairs on the Moon”) – all of which offer an escape from the mundane and an invite to embark on a funky-fresh, otherworldly adventure. Writing this, I can’t help but notice that Bipolar Sunshine remains consistently cosmic in his themes, singing in “Daydreamer”’s chorus, “Let’s get lost / buy a ticket to Mars.” With it's bop-worthy beat, infectious pop prowess and vibes almost on par with The 1975, I'll bet you can't remain completely still while streaming it. It's an ethereal anthem and I'm paying my allegiance on repeat.

Commenters on YouTube are using the words “dope,” “banger,” “spectacular,” and “belter” to describe the track, and I'd have to agree that it is all of the above and more. The song is a collaboration with SBTRKT and was produced by Fraser T Smith (of Adele, Lily Allen, and Sam Smith acclaim) – so basically it was born to be epic before it was even a blip on our radars.

Since we can only daydream of jetting off to Mars with Mr. Marchant, join me in hitting replay incessantly until the work day is over, and then lurking on his socials for some clue of when Bipolar Sunshine will next be setting foot in New York. If you're lucky enough to be in UK this year, he’ll be touring his homeland and we have those dates here.
