Every now and then, as a diligent music fan, you wade through the countless underwhelming songs polluting the Internet with noise and stumble upon something unexpectedly great (or in this case, it gets sent to your email). Bully is one of those somethings. The four-piece band from Nashville drags indie pop through the muck of grunge. Fronted by Alicia Bognanno, the new band is bursting out of the gates ready to get grab your attention. Bully's scene-stealing debut is "Milkman", a galloping pop punk tune written and recorded by Bognanno that takes the punk rock edge to a shout happy place. The song has all the reckless energy of a garage band with a polished, stage ready sound, and it's hard not to get nostalgic about the pop punk of the past while listening to this gem.
Consider this your formal introduction to Bully: "Milkman" is the lead track from Bully's self-titled EP, which is filled with great music that is both ambitious and fun. Vulture called "Milkman" one of its 10 Best New Songs of the Week, and I'm inclined to agree. With an entrance this grand, you can be sure this wont be the last you hear of this Nashville quartet.
