Nottingham-raised singer Joel Baker has just released the beautiful demo track "Hot Air Balloon (All I Want Is You)". He had industry backing from BBC R1's Introducing platform back in July last year, for his debut EP release Long Sleeves and most recently released his sophomore EP Every Vessel in May this year.
Stylising himself fittingly as 'Soul-Folk', this brand new track was written in Berlin, echoing feelings of home-sickness and finding that special someone and is produced by The Confect, who bring their quasi-acoustic, slowed down tempo to the mix, as they have done for the likes of JP Cooper.
"Hot Air Balloon (All I Want Is You)" is simple yet effective, with Joel's unassuming nature reflecting in the vocals and production, building slightly, but constantly remaining raw. Don't be fooled though, Joel may have had a day job up until recently, but he is currently on tour with Ella Eyre, and playing at Shepard's Bush Empire in London on Friday night – bringing his stunning tracks to the masses.
