LA imprint, Perfect Driver, are fresh off their recent release of a compilation showcase series that introduces listeners to a wide range of new music and artists. Handpicked by Dirtybird and Perfect Driver artist, Mark Starr, the release includes an hour long mix that perfectly illustrates how the tunes were meant to be mixed and manipulated live. Groovy, soothing, and just dirty enough to make you say, "Oh…oh yeah…this right here", the Perfect Driver Showcase Part I is sure to make you bass lovers fall in love with the label's style.
In Mark's own words, "I had a great time putting together this compilation mix for Perfect Driver. There's some great new talent showcased in this mix that I have been supporting over the past few months, whom I am happy to see join the Perfect Driver roster. The forthcoming releases are very diverse and I think there is something for everyone in this mix."
Of the tracks included, our favorites include the dark and dungeonous "Cactus Party" and "Poppers" by newcomers Eyes Everywhere. The bass weight and drumming time signatures of these two tracks set them apart from the rest of the album as the darkest of the bunch. Others worth noting are Lux Groove's "Got Em" and Alex Index's "Down". Of course, the entire series is worth a listen, but these four stand out with the highest potential for success. For a more mellow vibe, check Ghostea's "Still Sippin" dub edit.
