With June around the corner, it's hard not to get excited about summer (unless you're in Australia, where the seasons are reversed). Either way, Aussie songstress Vanessa Elisha seems to have a hold on summer sentiments. She's got an incredible knack for crafting tunes that immediately relax you, prompting additions to playlists for lounging on the beach or by the pool. Yes, those are no-brainer scenarios, but not just because of her song titles' recurring themes. She recently took the Internet by storm with her debut "Midnight Swim," a sultry collaboration with fellow Aussie producer GXNXVS, charting on HypeMachine and amassing radio spins on CapitalXtra in the UK.
Really, Elisha's music soundtracks any relaxed environment; she's basically a de-stressor – so it comes as no surprise to know she's teamed up with a producer on one of our favorite indie labels, Soulection. Known for chill, feel-good vibes, Soulection's got the perfect roster for her to choose from. Her sophomore single "Ocean" features sensual production courtesy of J-Louis. It's another slow-burning R&B single reminiscent of Jhené Aiko, showing a more pensive and vulnerable side of the burgeoning singer.
Surround me like an ocean, protect me like I'm broken
I don't know where I go, I don't know where I fit in
Where do I finish and where does he begin?
It's a disarming record complete with warm melodies and cloudy production, a great follow-up to their previous collaboration on J-Louis's track "Waves". Listen to "Ocean" below.

"Ocean" serves as her forthcoming EP's second single; EP coming soon. In the meantime, Vanessa's working on records with XXYYXX and Mike Zombie. Stay tuned, and revisit "Midnight Swim" as well.
