Benji Boko’s back with yet another five star remix and this time he’s taken it tropical. The British producer’s finest and most popular work this far came with his versions of Jay-Z’s “99 Problems” and Craig Mack’s “Flava In Ya Ear”, but this new Soundmen remix takes it into a new direction. “With You” featuring Detroit songstress Rai Knight was always going to be hard to follow, with a unique summery twist on trap, so Boko hasn’t tried to. Instead Knight’s blissful vocals are fragmented and converted into a new layer of vibrancy above the steel drum samples and fat bass. While the beat incorporates elements of hip hop pacing, this “With You” reworking plays more like peppy pop with a phenomenal layout.
A lot of passion for atmospheric soundscaping and attention to detail clearly went into the dynamic tune; Boko says it himself on the SoundCloud caption “This one holds a special place in my heart. I've been waiting to give it to you for a long time.” You can expect Remixes Vol. 3 to drop soon, but while we wait, whenever this EARMILK writer gets excited by a new Benji Boko remix you’re urged to check out more of his gem studded back catalogue, so this time keep the party going with a remix of Beyoncé’s “Work It Out.”
