Mobb Deep built the anticipation for their reunion record with real strength. We covered their !llmind produced 90’s throwback “Say Something” last month and this time our attention is turned to a new track carved out by KAYTRANADA. The Montreal based beatsmith has helped the rejuvenation of the Mobb, which culminated with the release of The Infamous Mobb Deep today, by linking up with the Queensbridge veterans for “My Block”.
A 90’s rawness meets modern innovation and it keeps Prodigy and Havoc’s evergreen talent feeling relevant with a hypnotic melody that courses through the 2 minutes of refreshing rap. “My Block” picks up where “Say Something” left off with an impressive new edge introduced to the typically G’ lyrical input from the New York duo who last time around took issue with Kendrick Lamar’s self-promotion to king of their hometown.
The Infamous Mobb Deep is their first record since the disappointment of Blood Money and is a generous 31 tracks long. It features input from Snoop Dogg for "Get Down", Nas for "Get It Forever" and Ghostface on "Eye For An Eye". Visit "My Block" below.
