Dimond Saints is a duo that consistently manages to find new artists to manipulate in captivating ways. From their darkening remix of Beyonce to their most recent rework of Broad Saints, Dimond Saints are constantly working their magic with vocals. Today's remix is no exception; this duo from Oakland has taken on One Republic's hit single "Counting Stars." Although it's not their strongest work with another musician's work, this remix shows how Dimond Saints has expanded in genre manipulation to tackle new music.
The track is labelled as featuring One Republic, although I feel Dimond Saints have just reworked the track. The beginning half sounds signature to Dimond Saints usual slowed down, spaced out, do-over of lyrics. Around half way, the listener gets a small clip of the original track with Ryan Tedder's singing but it's almost immediately turned upside down. Dimond Saints described the track themselves as, "a future-soul heater, with oversized bass that oozes warmth and invites you to take a galactic ride to the cosmos."
