Last fall Sub Focus, typically known for crafting drum-and-bass, delivered fans his sophomore LP, showcasing versatility well beyond his bass-heavy roots. The 13-track Torus ranges from dubstep to electro, with an interlude of garage-inspired house midway through. That interlude, "Close", is an unexpected bumping output featuring vocals from deep house rising star MNEK. The flowing track highlighted the 10+ years of producing under Nick Douwma's [Sub Focus] belt, without letting go of his quick-hitting d'n'b style.
Now, the UK-hailing producer is preparing to rerelease the collaborative effort, this time with a remix package. Coming to listeners via Virgin EMI on April 21, fans can catch the Grandtheft remix here ahead of its official release. The Toronto-hailing producer veers away from his trap-driven origins to create a grinding rendition of "Close". Creating a remix that pays homage to the original, while keeping much of MNEK's vocals intact, Grandtheft creates a rework that will effortlessly move dance floors and festival-goers alike.
