Saturday, Monday reinvents Naomi Pilgrim's "Rainmakers" [Premiere]

The Swedish/Barbadian vocalist Naomi Pilgrim released her self-titled debut EP on February 3, opening my eyes to another new, interesting artist on the wire. Her music has received rave reviews from sources such as Interview Magazine and NYLON, as it confidently combines styles across R&B while remaining rooted in modern pop with balearic undertones. The Naomi Pilgrim EP follows the Fall 2013 release of her debut single "No Gun", which was accompanied by an official video and a live session video, as well as second single "Money" released back in January via Cosmos Music Group. The project contains a new, anthem track called "Rainmakers" rounding out the magnificent EP.

Today we introduce you to Saturday, Monday, otherwise known as Swedish producer Ludvig Parment, and his remix of Naomi's "Rainmakers" out today via Despotz Records. Parment pumps the brakes on Pilgrim's vocals, showing off that trendy downtempo style as an introduction. He's been described as "an electronic dance-pop blend that connects and disconnects rhythms at uncanny junctures" on Pitchfork,  and their quote proves spot on with the release of this new edit. Parment landed a spot on Naomi Pilgrim's single/remix pack expected to release in March, and you can pre-order it here.

I'm excited to see what comes of both of these young artists, and I hope to see more collaboration strategies like this in the future. It's interesting to see which artists feel most comfortable with other artists and how they present their art. Give Saturday, Monday's remix now and make sure you take a peek at Naomi's EP on Soundcloud.
