Of the many new musicians that emerged at the start of 2014, Monark is certainly a duo that have gotten a fair deal of attention. Based out of London Ontario, Monark is formed by Inukshuk and Matteo Pepe. Both have several years of experience in the studio and playing local live performances for nightclubs. Their inspiration can be found from house legends as these two have been absorbing music to find their own niche in the progressive house genre. After releasing remix after remix, EARMILK finally brings you their first original work titled, "Ether."
What stood out so much about this track was the resemblance to Deadmau5's old work. The soft chords and progressive build work into a harmonizing intro that comes crashing down at the climax. The track is energetic and ecstatic as the beat moves from a slow pace into a catchy melody. The second drop completely changes the track again as a seamless synth is layered over top the tempo. While some of Monark's earlier remixes might have struggled to be noticed, the duo has only snowballed in popularity since their remix of OneRepublic's "If I Lose Myself Tonight". Arguably their best work to date, "Ether" is one track that has me personally excited for what is coming next. You can grab a free download of the track from Monark's Facebook page.
