It's always a HUGE risk when you decide to sample what many would regard as a 'classic' track. When the first few notes chime out, people get excited and the expectation for you to do something amazing with it is at a high. Well, luckily for Louisiana native Joe Fnkoo, he's managed to take a vintage slice of hip hop history, and make an incredibly dope track from it.
The Leesville emcee samples the seminal Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg hit "Still D.R.E", the main riff to be exact, and flipped it into a trap-influenced banger that completely gets you fired up and ready to start mobbin' out. As the heavy drums kick underneath the classic Dre sample, Joe comes through with great style and substance, riding the beat close and not letting go. Lyrically, he talks about being around his people and just having a good time, which is perfectly shown in the self directed (also with Simee_HD) video which accompanies the track.
"Don't Mind Me" is taken from Joe's latest project Drivers Ed, which you can find along with all his other work at Audiomack by following the link below. Keep your eyes and ears locked onto EARMILK for all the latest music that comes from Joe Fnkoo!
